Strong Junior or Middle Manual QA Engineer

What is the project about?

This is the HTML5 casual game development project of the biggest and most dynamic organization in the gaming world in the Netherlands. The company is a partner with global brands, working on IPs such as Angry Birds, Monopoly, Battleship, and Sudoku, started 10 years ago as a pioneer in developing games in HTML5.

What will you do?

As a key player, you'll champion the delivery of top-notch products, becoming an integral part of an agile, multidisciplinary, and creatively charged game development team

  • Testing games manually (black box testing)
  • Identify and track project issues
  • Pay attention to user experience, gameplay mechanics, graphics, and audio elements to ensure a seamless gaming experience
  • Participate in the planning and execution of QA activities throughout all phases of the sprint lifecycle
  • Reviewing and testing requirements
  • Facilitating smooth releases
  • Reviewing game design documents and functional specifications
  • Creating test documentation (test reports; checklists and test cases)
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to improve quality and game experience.

What qualifications and skills do you need?

What should you be experienced with?

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English - the ability to describe identified issues clearly and concisely
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in software testing (game dev is a plus)
  • Experience with multiple platforms (mobile, desktop, web, social platforms)
  • Experience with Jira or similar software
  • Experience with TestRail or similar software is a plus
  • Knowledgeable about SDLC and STLC
  • Experience with Agile development processes and tools

  • Attention to detail
  • A methodical, scientific and analytical mindset is a strong plus
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in project requirements and to work as per shift timings applicable to the project
  • Like to troubleshoot technical problems and try to get to the root of why weird error messages come up
  • Proactivity and used to taking ownership and responsibility
  • Not to be afraid of information analysis
  • Good team player

What do we offer?

Workload expectations

  • Flexible Monthly Load: Approximately 80 hours per month, distributed variably to align with project needs. Expect a higher engagement leading up to game releases, with reduced hours following the release to ensure work-life balance and adequate rest.
  • Release-Centric Scheduling: Our sprint cycles are designed with workload peaks around releases to guarantee quality and timely delivery, followed by more relaxed phases that allow for recovery and personal time.
